Calls and text msgs cost to drop within EU as of Wed., commission says

Households within the EU will benefit from a drop in pricing for phone calls and text messages within the EU – whether made from landlines or mobile phones – as of Wednesday, the Hellenic Telecommunications & Post Commission (EETT) said on Tuesday.

The price drop affects all inter-EU calls and text messages (also known as SMSs) made from EU landlines or mobile phones and include calls and SMSs to Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway. Calls from and to a landline or mobile will be charged a maximum of 0.19 euros per minute (pre VAT) and SMSs a maximum of 0.06 euros per message (pre VAT).

Cost changes affect householders with a contract or a calling card, not businesses or professionals.

The measures, EETT said, follows adjustments in EU regulations.
