Coast Guard locates and rescues 83 migrants in the sea regions of Lesvos and Chios

The Hellenic Coast Guard on Wednesday located and rescued 83 migrants and refugees in three separate incidents in the sea regions of Lesvos and Chios.

Specifically, the two incidents were reported at the sea region Agrielia of Lesvos and involved two dinghies carrying 32 and 36 migrants and refugees, respectively. The foreign nationals were transferred to the port of Mytilene while the two drivers of the boats, one aged 43 and the other 17, both foreign nationals, were arrested.

In a separate incident, a Coast Guard patrol vessel located island a dinghy with 15 migrants and refugees on board northeast of Chios. The foreign nationals were transferred to the port of Chios.
