First-time license tests to resume, possibly as early as Monday

Driving tests for first-time licence holders are expected to resume on Monday, following an agreement of the Ministry of Transport with insurance agencies that agreed to provide coverage on cars and candidates, sources said on Wednesday.

Transport Secretary General Thanos Vourdas said in a circular to Greek regions that “the procedures activating the tests for qualifications and road behavior may go ahead,” criticising objections of driving school owners who claimed insurance agencies would not cover liabilities for accidents.

Nine Greek insurance agencies are in the process of drawing up specific policies for candidate drivers and vehicles used, sources said.
