Greek gov’t plans package of measures to support small enterprises and farmers

Economy and Development Minister Yiannis Dragasakis on Thursday said that the government was planning a package of measures to support small enterprises and farmers with loans, guarantees, special bonds and a mechanism helping small enterprises issuing bonds through the Athens Stock Exchange.

Speaking in Parliament, Dragasakis said that government was ready, if necessary, to raise incentives offered to attract intra-group activities in the country in areas such as production of foreign films. He underlined that the government has a comprehensive plan to support small and small- and medium-sized enterprises.

He left the door open for the operation of a Hellenic Development Bank in Thessaloniki with a branch. (The draft bill for the founding of the bank passed the first reading at the parliament’s Production and Trade Committee on Thursday.)
