Hellenic Statistical Authority: Industrial production up 2.3 pct in February

Industrial production grew 2.3 pct in February compared with the same month last year, with manufacturing production up 3.1 pct in the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said in a report released on Tuesday.

The statistics service said the industrial production index fell 1.9 pct in February 2018 and attributed this year’s figure to an 8.9 pct increase in the mining production index, a 3.1 pct rise in manufacturing production (reflecting a 73.5 pct jump in tobacco production, a 15 pct rise in pharmaceuticals production, a 22.6 pct increase in base metals, a 50.3 pct jump in computers/electronics/opticals and a 23.1 pct rise in other manufacturing activity). The water production index rose 1.4 pct in February. The electricity production index fell 1.3 pct in the month.

The average industrial production index rose 3.2 pct in January-February 2019 compared with the same period last year, while the seasonally-adjusted index fell 2.7 pct in February from January 2019.
