ND tables amendment for further VAT cuts in catering sector

Main opposition New Democracy on Tuesday tabled a proposed amendment that would cut VAT from 24 pct to 13 pct for all restaurant and cafeteria products, including coffee, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages, attached to the draft bill on the 120-installment settlement schemes for debts to the public sector.

Introducing the bill on behalf of ND, MP Yiannis Vroutsis urged ruling SYRIZA deputies to support this amendment over that tabled by the government, which “does not include at least 55 pct of catering products” and thus return VAT levels for the catering and restaurant sector to the same level as in 2014.
