Special vessels are removing garbage and other objects from Thessaloniki’s Thermaic Gulf

Two special vessels have been cleaning the Thermaic Gulf in Thessaloniki since early Friday, removing garbage, even mice, that were found floating on the surface after recent heavy rain.

At the orders of Deputy Minister of Macedonia and Thrace Eleftheria Hatzigeorgiou and under the supervision of the Thermaic Gulf Management Agency, the company responsible for the clean-up started its operation early on Friday morning.

The cleaning will continue in the next days until all the garbage is removed.

Meanwhile, a tender for continuing the cleaning programme for the Thermaikos Gulf is in progress and is to conclude next week with the signing of the relevant contracts.
