Supermarkets to slash prices as soon as VAT reductions are voted in

Supermarket chains assured the government that product prices would be adjusted downwards for products with reduced VAT, introduced by the government recently as part of relief measures.

Representatives of Sklavenitis, Masoutis, Metro and AB Vassilopoulos told Deputy Premier and Economy & Development Minister Yannis Dragasakis by phone that once the new draft law reduces VAT on certain items such as coffee and beverages from 24 pct to 13 pct, they will adjust prices immediately.
